Dena Otrin is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from New Mexico State University. She has been in private practice for eight years with over ten years experience in the mental health field. Dena’s experience includes Lead Clinician in a children’s unit of a partial hospitalization program, Clinician in an extended-day treatment program working with teenagers and internships in clinical and school-based counseling.
Dena has helped a wide range of clients with a variety of issues. Some examples are: young children dealing with divorce, teenagers needing to establish healthy relationships, families struggling to improve communication, adults facing anxiety and depression and couples trying to re-establish meaningful relationships.
Besides work in her private practice, Dena supports the community through volunteer efforts and affiliations with local mental health professional organizations.
Dena provides an active and goal-oriented approach when working with clients. She often uses cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy to help establish observable and measurable progress. Dena balances her compassion for her clients’ unique situations with her ability to challenge them to identify and work towards the positive change they seek in their lives.
